May be you should change the title to “most vegetarian friendly cities outside India”. Indians are very justifiably proud of their vegetarian cousine. Else, this website is like talking about movies without mentioning hollywood.

I love good vegetarian food whenever available.

How can you not include Los Angeles in a list of cities with great vegetarian restaurants? Vegetarian entertainers such as Ellen Degeneres, Toby McGuire, Pamela Anderson, Emily Deschanel, Woody Harrelson, Alicia Silverstone and many more I’ve seen at L.A. Vegetarian restaurants. Top restaurants include Planet Raw, SunPower Natural Cafe, Real Food Daily, Follow Your Heart and so many others.

Yes, I thought that's the reason for excluding India. I was vegetarian for 6 months in India and never even noticed. Didn't need to watch for meat. But if India was included, all the cities would be Indian. But hey, as a Vancouverite it's the top non-asian city. Something to be proud of. The Naam is famous, but a little overrated for the food. The atmosphere is lovely, however.

Thanks for your comments, guys! I didn't include India as the diet has always been largely veg-based. The cities on this list are ones that emerged as being veg-friendly, as opposed to having a long-standing veggie tradition…

I agree with many of these choices (San Francisco is really fantastic for its variety of vegetarian options). However, maybe 70% of the vegetarians on Planet Earth live in India. So how can it be that no Indian city makes this list? In some holy cities in India *all* of the restaurants are vegetarian.
