Wish I had a car last time I was there! There is one drive I did when I was 16 years old and I hope is still possible. Rent a Jeep in Dewey, Culebra, and then drive around the dirt roads that snake (pun intended) around the small island. I used to love Punta del Soldado, where I would go snorkeling/free-diving with my brothers and cousins, and Zoni beach (when the turtles aren't nesting, of course), where you can usually find a nice spot all for yourself. When I visited Puerto Rico, I rented a car and over the course of a week made a big circuit around and through the island (along some of the routes mentioned in your itinerary). There're so many beautiful places--tons of lofty ocean vistas and gorgeous interior mountains. I was constantly pulling over and jumping out of the car to capture the spectacular scenery! I wish you'd written this before my trip earlier this year! I would highly recommend spending some time in the interior, somewhere around Jayuya. This region is gorgeous and will blow your mind if you've never previously associated Puerto Rico with mountains. One caveat: those mountain roads are narrow, winding, and hair-raising!
