Alphy’s Broiler in Arroyo Grande Calif. should be on the list as well as the burger in Parkfield Calif. (the earthquake capital of Calif.).

In Chicago: Rosebud Steakhouse – is the last place I’d go looking for a burger.

For the same $13 dollars before tip at Rosebud Steakhouse, you can ride the #22 bus from Walton & Dearborn up to Lincoln Park for $2.25 and stop in at R.J. Grunts with your remaining $10.75 for the best burger/fries Chicago has to offer. These fries man, they’re unique, and they pile em’ on. Have a Goose Island Beer while you’re at it, locally brewed.

Travel Tip: The price of soup on any given day at R.J. Grunts is what’s on the thermostat. 89 degrees = 89 cents. 56 degrees = 56 cents.

Its only a few blocks walk west to Dearborn from Rosebud Steakhouse on Walton.

Have at it – safe travels.

Lee’s Hamburgers (well-seasoned, filled with ground onions) and Burger Orleans burgers (with a French bread bun) are also quite good in the New Orleans area. Mmm… They’re both greasy enough to take a day off your life but somehow well worth it.

John’s in Manhattan on 8th st and 2nd Ave. Cheap, excellent, big burgers. ‘Nuff said!

I can’t believe there is no mention of a Midwestern city. Corn-fed beef is the best, and you can’t get any fresher than in Nebraska…

Yup, it must be a California thing. The closest In-N-Out to me is actually just across the California/Nevada border. …Nobody really bats an eye when you tell them you’re driving 3 hours for a #2 Animal Style.

I was disappointed that it didn’t make the Epicurious list also… but Pie ‘N Burger’s concoction actually is really similar.
