Also, happened to be there on an earlier trip during the tsunami and so had to change plans from Phuket to Pranburi, which isn't "far" (an hour away or so) from the summer palace. Still sleepy towns with squid drying in the sun. there is an Evanson hotel there and there were a number of new developments already happening in 2003 so I wonder what it's like now? -A Went to Koh Samui a couple of years back and while it is still “growing,” still options to see the beauty.
