I had a taste of this when I hit Bodhgaya, and especially Varanasi with its 42C temperatures. I dared not go further south, but instead, headed for the mountains in the north (didn't make it as far as Leh though). And I was told businesses in Goa basically shut down for one month of the year - June maybe? Disease is much more prevalent. As a travel you might be lonely because there will be no other tourists around. Also it raining so you won't see much! Overall you are much better to follow the weather.
