Hi Felicia, great post. The quintessential Merlion photo is getting a picture taken of you looking like you are drinking the water of the Merlion. It's as cheesy as a photo holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa but fun to do.

Another thing to add to the list is eating at the food courts. It rained the whole time we visited Singapore earlier in the year and spent a lot of our time going from one food court to another (yes, food is important to us!). We were amazed at the quality, quantity and variety of food available for just a few dollars. I still dream of Hainanese Chicken Rice…

great article! I've bookmarked this for when I finally make it to Singapore. I have been to the airport so many times in recent years, but never stepped foot in the country. There are some great tips here – particularly interested to read about the library at the Esplanade – sounds like a great place to spend a hot afternoon.
